In the early hours of 21 FEB 2021, an attack was launched on the forums at our website at www.MilitaryGamers.com. Using the stolen credentials of an administrator account, an attacker was able to gain privileged access to our forum software and import custom scripts which may have impacted users accessing the forums during this time. Fortunately, according to traffic statistics, the number of users impacted by any potential compromise of the forum software before it was discovered is extremely limited. After taking the forums offline, and archiving the data for forensic analysis, our entire website was restored from a secure backup.

Unfortunately, it remains unclear whether any database information was successfully exported before the threat was eliminated, but in cases such as these, if such information were obtained by the attacker, it would be possible for them to gain access to any unencrypted data such as usernames and email accounts, which is why we discourage the use of any personally identifiable information (PII) on our website. User account passwords are encrypted in our database, however, we are forcing a password reset on all accounts as a precautionary measure. If you use the same password on any other website (a practice widely discouraged), you should scan your system for threats and then update those passwords accordingly.

As an additional precaution, you should treat any recent emails sent from our domain (@militarygamers.com) regarding your account with extra caution.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and we will continue to do our utmost to ensure that your experience as a member of our community is both rewarding and secure.
